I LOVE MY CITY EVENT // HABITAT FOR HUMANITY
"The King will answer and say to them, 'Truly I say to you, to the extent that you did it to one of these brothers of Mine, even the least of them, you did it to Me.'
We had the privileged opportunity given; to partner with an amazing organization “Habitat for Humanity” here in the heart of Omaha.
We’ve made it a point early on that My City Church would be a church that serves it’s community and serves it’s city. Here we had another opportunity.
A number of people showed up on the 24th of February and helped. It was a dreary and very cold, icy day but nothing would stop us to help “Habitat for Humanity”.
Habitat for Humanity partners with people in Omaha and all over the world, to help them build or improve a place they can call home. Habitat homeowners help build their own homes alongside volunteers and pay an affordable mortgage.
Such an amazing way to help someone that needs a home.
Here we were, boots on the ground, getting dirty and hammering away. Old cement foundations/basements needed to be removed and cleaned. We were scattered throughout different houses and helped getting them ready for the next project…
Creating a place that someone will call home. Isn’t that just what Jesus is doing for us right now? He is preparing a home in heaven for all of us.
In the meantime we will be be doing this on this side of heaven.
Habitat for Humanity’s vision is to see a world where everyone has a decent place to live, demonstrate the love of Jesus Christ, focus on shelter, advocate for affordable housing, promote dignity and hope worldwide.
The love of Jesus transforms communities and reaches people of all ages, races and walks of life. I LOVE MY CITY is dedicated to work out this truth in Omaha.
